Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and EU Ambassador Janos Herman jointly launched a new information portal on all DCFTA related matters.
The site is hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. It was developed with the support of the EU–GIZ Project ‘SME Development and DCFTA in Georgia’. The website is online since June 19th and provides detailed information on all aspects of the DCFTA. Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Genadi Arveladze, presented the website to the guests including Ministers and Vice Ministers, the German Ambassador Dr. Heike Peitsch, numerous representatives from Georgia’s business community as well as representatives from international organizations.
GIZ Programme Director Ms. Katja Kammerer noted that Germanyhas accompanied Georgia’s development path closely over the past 25 years and that GIZ today is proud to support Georgian SME take advantage of the DCFTA.
The new website covers all DCFTA-related matters and is also designed as a platform for exchange. It provides practical, legislative, and other relevant information for entrepreneurs and the general public in both Georgian and English languages. Interested citizens can provide feedback or suggestions to relevant agencies regarding draft normative acts within the frames of the DCFTA.
‘SME Development and DCFTA in Georgia’ project is co-financed by the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany and is implemented by GIZ. The project assists Georgian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to become more competitive and adapt to the new regulatory environment created under the free trade agreement with the EU (DCFTA). The project is part of European Union's EU4Business Initiative, which helps SMEs to benefit from DCFTA by improving business environment, increasing knowledge and skills of businesses, and by supporting SMEs to get better access to finance.
