Empowering Georgian hazelnut companies to trade more and better

On 18-24 May, a consultant from the International Trade Centre is visiting Georgian hazelnut and dried fruit producers in Tbilisi and Zugdidito determine and finalise individual strategies for companies to work with buyers from the European Union. A practical training is included as part of the visit.

The visit and the training are organised by the International Trade Centre ‘Ready to Trade’ project, funded by the European Union under the EU4Business initiative.

During the visit, the international expert will meet tenproject beneficiary companies, including eight hazelnut producers and two dried fruit producers from the Shida Kartli and Samegrelo regions of Georgia. Factory visits and individual coaching for management will help better assess the current situation and develop the action plan for the future exports.

The training on the last day of the visit aims to help hazelnut producers better understand the market, competition and trends that are shaping trade in the EU. The participants will also learn about where and how to get market information. The special focus of the training will be on sales and how to approach new buyers.

The Ready to Trade project, funded by the European Union’s EU4Business initiative, works with small businesses in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine to help them target and access foreign markets, with a special focus on the European Union.
